80% of the total aquatic products are used by human beings, and the rest 20% can not be directly used, such as the fish head, fish bone and fish skin separated from the processing stage. Some of them are used for processing such as fish soup, fish sauce and flavor food, while the rest are wasted. If these wastes are not treated properly, they may have an impact on the environment. On the contrary, it can turn waste into treasure and make valuable feed fish oil and fish meal.

With the advantages of fast liquid-solid separation, continuous and automatic operation, good separation effect, high efficiency and reliability, horizontal decanter centrifuge  plays an important role in the processing of fish oil, fish meal and aquatic products such as surimi. Therefore, the application technology of horizontal decanter centrifuge in fishery processing production is discussed by this article.

1. Application of three-phase horizontal decanter centrifuge in extraction of fish meal and oil

This application is mainly used to extract fish oil and fish meal from the whole fish. In the process, the whole fish is heated and digested to produce fish oil. After selection, the raw materials are divided into protein rich solid phase and oil, water and fine particles liquid phase. Next, the screened solid phase is further pressed to obtain the pressed cake and liquid phase, and the pressed cake is pressed again to obtain the fish meal after drying; the screened and pressed liquid phase will be separated into fish oil, fish juice and solid slag. The fish juice can be further concentrated into slurry through the evaporator and mixed into solid slag for drying to obtain the fish meal.

2. Application of horizontal decanter centrifuge in hydrolysis of aquatic products

Fish offal and other raw materials which are not suitable for making fillets and cans can be used as fish meal for making animal feed. In the process, the protein in muscle and other tissues is first decomposed by enzyme, and then the fish oil, fish juice and protein rich solid residue in the hydrolysate are separated by horizontal decanter centrifuge. After evaporation, the fish juice is concentrated into thick fish slurry, which is added to the solid residue for drying to obtain the fish meal.

3. Application of horizontal decanter centrifuge in direct treatment of fishery byproducts

Fish offal, fish head, fish tail, fish bone, fish intestines and other byproducts of the aquatic products processing plant are crushed and directly put into the cooker for steaming. The mixture formed after steaming is separated by three-phase centrifuge to obtain fish oil, fish juice and solid residue. After steam concentration, fish juice is formed into thick fish slurry, which is added to the solid residue and dried to make feed grade fish meal. The separated fish oil can be purified by a higher separation precision centrifuge to obtain high purity fish oil.

4. Application of horizontal decanter centrifuge in the processing of krill

The horizontal decanter centrifuge can be used for the concentration of krill oil. The newly captured krill is heated by steam in a cooker for a period of time. Then the primary solid residue and primary liquid are separated through a filter screen. After that, the neutral oil and krill oil rich in astaxanthin are separated from the primary liquid by horizontal decanter centrifuge. The primary solid residue is further pressed and separated to obtain the secondary pressing liquid and secondary solid residue. Finally, the phospholipid rich krill oil was obtained by centrifugation from the secondary pressing liquid and the low fat krill powder was obtained by drying the secondary solid residue.

5. Conclusion

With the development of fishery equipment and engineering technology and the demand for the full utilization of fishery resources, the horizontal decanter centrifuge with high reliability, high stability and high efficiency will play an increasingly important role in fishery production.
